The Shofar

Shana Tova!!!

As I practice sound healing, I was curious to learn more about the sound of the Shofar. So here’s an element of answer about why we hear the Shofar during Rosh Hashana I relate to and wanted to share with you:

🌬Breath comes from inside the body. This breath evokes the “nichmat haim” ‏נשמת חיים, the divine breath, breathed into Adam on the day of his creation, this breath is our soul. Rosh Hashana is the anniversary not of the creation of the world but of the first man.

Blowing the shofar evokes the Neshama of man in its original state of purity.

🌚Rosh Hashana being the “Yom HaDin”, the judgment day, we use the shofar so we won’t be rigorously judged only on our exteriority, on what we do, our actions, but our interiority, what is hidden just like the face of this new moon, our capacity to do teshuva, to return to our spiritual essence, our neshama will be also taken into account.

✨The month of Tishrei is a process of regeneration. Especially the first two days א and ב of this month of Tishrey תשרי, as you add them together it forms ‏ בראשית ״Bereshit״, the first word of the Torah.

🙏🏼Therefore we understand better that the Shofar’s purpose is to awaken within us the teshuva תשובה, the way back to our true pure essence, the answer of all our existential questions. I must say it is true that sound has the power to shake us like carpets and awaken emotions and thoughts!
