Rosh Hodesh Elul • New Moon Virgo

This month is such a special moment of the year cycle as in the Hebrew calendar it is the last month before the new year, Rosh Hashana. It is a month of introspection, of ‏חשבון נפש “Heshbon Nefesh”.

It’s not the time to start a new project but to reflect on all the things we have already done. And focus on what really matters and love. אלול “Elul” are the first letters of

“אני לדודי ודודי לי”

“Ani Ledodi vdodi Li” - I am to my beloved and my beloved is to me, usually speaking about the divine, the concept of creation and oneness, as well as our own divine side that lives within us.

Elul is indeed inviting us to go deep inside ourselves, to come back to our true essence, what make us who we really are. That is why it is a time of תשובה « Techouva », which can mean « the answer » but when you split the word you see שוב « shuv » - which literally means « again », and can be understood as a sens of « return ».

So in other words, it’s a time in which we are returning to ourselves, our essence, which is divine. It is the answer to all our existential questions, the meaning of life itself can be discover in that way. Do what you feel calls you.

At this time we hear everyday the Shofar, calling us to this return. Trust your intuition that hears those frequencies. Also by reconnecting to yourself, reconnect too with the people you are not in good terms with, ask for forgiveness, to yourself first and to them too.

The Virgo astrological sign energy, “ ‏בתולה”, will help us to do this inner work thanks to its analytical energy, loving to classify and order things, but be careful not to fall into judgmental and critical thoughts, over analyzing, focusing on mistakes and having anxious perfectionism. Try to appreciate all those details and create healthy routines from them, continue the hard work and soon enough you will get the big picture.

So to remember for this month in simple daily actions:

  • journal about what you want to let go.

  • journal about what your are grateful for and what is the most important for you in your life now.

  • journal about who you are, who you want to be, set intentions for this month, knowing that intention “‏כוונה“ comes from the root ”כיוון” which means direction.

  • continue to work on your healthy routine.

  • get yourself time to do what you love to do to connect with yourself.

  • reconnect with the people you are not in good terms with, ask for forgiveness to yourself first and to them too.

🙏🏼✨
